By Christina Richter with David Fiddyment

A young widow with her baby boy is hopeful about their new beginnings in Northern California. It was 1853 and the population of California was still growing from gold fever in the Sierra Nevada, and agricultural success in the low lands. The widow remarried and the Fiddyment family legacy in Roseville, California began.

Today, seven generations of the Fiddyment family have called Roseville their home. At one time, this pioneer family held over 10,000 acres of land. Their history intertwines with the Donner Party, the Gold Rush and the Great Depression. The story is told with engaging text and an abundance of photographs, maps and illustrations. Original documents are included to enrich this historic story.

To write the book, Richter spent hundreds of hours with Fiddyment family members to gain personal insights and to do research in the family archives. The story of this local pioneer family needed to be told and Richter accomplished the challenge with grand fashion.
